I Hear Fresh Laughter in the Rain

Today, I’m working from home and it’s one of those very-rainy days in Dallas. I hadn’t posted anything on my blog in quite a bit of time, so I thought I’d spend a few minutes telling you about how the year has gone so far. No witty observations about communications or marketing, just an update on what’s going on.

I can’t believe we’re already almost halfway through January. Who was it – I think my father – who told me that the older you get, the faster time goes. He was so right! My time so far has been filled with lots of calls and catch-up emails with all of my clients, trying to get them ready for the new year. So far, so good.

I like the start of the new year because it brings something fresh to my world – sort of like a new start. While I no longer make any New Year’s resolutions, I think the first few weeks of January are a great time to reflect a bit on what you want to accomplish and where you are headed. Trite as that may seem, it does work for me.

In 2013, I hope to:

  • Laugh a little bit more.
  • Not take life so seriously.
  • Continue my exercise and diet regimen.
  • Continue providing great service to my great clients.
  • Possibly dismiss clients who are not fully committed to what they are doing.
  • Listen to more opera.

There you have it. I also hope to post more on my blog (a running goal that somehow always seems to go to the back burner) about my life without, again, trying to impart some kind of PR or marketing lesson.

Happy New Year!
