What I’m Thankful For: 2017

I try to write an annual blog that talks about what I’m thankful for; as 2017 draws to a close, here’s my list for this year:

My Wonderful Family – to me, family is everything. I could not get along day to day without the support of my family and am eternally grateful for everyone.

My Terrific Clients – coming in a close second are my clients, all of whom are truly special and extremely considerate of our time. I said this before and I’ll say it again: I want to have fun doing what we do, and if we’re not having fun, then it’s time to move on – I would rather go flip burgers than work with an unappreciative and unresponsive client.

I had to fire a client this year and fretted over doing it for more than a few months … but once I did cut this client loose, I instantly felt better. Better yet, it seems to me the split was amicable and may some day develop into an improved relationship.

My Close Friends – yes, I have more than a thousand friends on Facebook and umpteen hundreds of contacts on LinkedIn, but how many of these types of connections can you really call your friends? A wise person told me a while back that we only have a handful of close friends in our lifetime, and I subscribe 150% to that idea. How do you know when a friend is close? When their own needs come second and your’s come first. Unconditionally. Every time.

Looking Ahead

So what’s in store for 2018? More of the same good stuff, I assume, along with some new adventures. On behalf of my son, Bryan, and myself, I hope everyone has wonderful New Year and a terrific 2018!
